2017 Black Out Dinner Series

3-COURSE DINNERS SERVED IN THE DARK

FRIDAY, Dec. 8 — SATURDAY, Dec. 9 — SUNDAY, Dec. 10, 2017
6018NORTH 6018 N. Kenmore, Chicago, IL 60660

Black Out Dinners is an experiential event, a three-course vegetarian dinner in the dark created by a chef and served by Chicago Lighthouse employees. An exploration of the senses, these dinners continue the 6018North mission of connecting people through intimate, transformative encounters.

Black Out Dinners begin at 7:00 PM on the first floor with light. Guests can read the menu and order wine before each person is escorted upstairs to the darkened ballroom. After the meal, guests, staff, and chefs rejoin downstairs for dessert and engage in a conversation led by the Chicago Lighthouse servers about the experience.

"One of the best dining experiences I've ever had not only a delight for the palette but for the senses, and for our consciousness. So fortunate to listen and learn from blind people after the dinner about their experience in this society that is visually driven as well as extremely able-ist, and how we can become better allies with our seeing privileges. It was transformative, illuminating and so delicious!"
